When the Winds of Change Blow …

Some People put up Walls – Others Build Windmills

Which One Will You Be?

Winds Of ChangeChange … it’s all around us. It is part of our world. It is a constant that we must deal with and something that many of us want to avoid. “Stay put, stay safe, stay where things are familiar, ” we think. But does that really bring us happiness?

“Change? Oh, that is for other people … not me.   I like the ways things are, thank you very much. I can navigate the rough waters; I can see the world just fine from my vantage. This perspective is just perfect,” we cry. But is in perfect? Are we really fine?

Change is one of the scariest things we as human beings have to face. Some of the changes which come our way, we have no control over. Losing a loved one, a job, our finances… it is not our call, our decision. These changes are thrust upon us and we must learn how to handle them.

Other changes are instigated by our actions… “Oh, if only we had known that when we did this, or that … this would be the result.” Sometimes the results work out for the best, sometimes not. “I knew I shouldn’t have done (fill in the blank – married him, bought that house, taken that job.)” Or perhaps taking the “road less traveled” has resulted in an extraordinary welcomed change from the way your life had been going.

I heard a term long ago about becoming an “agent of change” and I liked to think of myself as a Secret Agent of Change (sounds more mysterious that way.)

I was once a person who hated change, who fought it at every moment and held on to “my way for life” at all costs. The “cost” it turned out was a life of negativity, loneliness and low self esteem.

It wasn’t until I dipped my big toe into the river of possibilities and made a change that I discover the power positive action has. I began a life of walking toward change instead of running away from it, and it has made the all the difference.

Change … it is “a-coming” my friends and it’s up to you to decide how to handle it. Will you create a wall to hide behind, or will you build a windmill to empower yourself to a happier, healthier and positive life?

Use the winds of change for new possibilities … it’s much more fun than hiding behind walls
